Sports and Event Photographers Head South for Event of the Year
The International Association of Professional Event Photographers (IAPEP) will present its fourth annual conference and trade show January 4-6, 2005. The Sports and Event Photographers Conference (SEPCON) will be held at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans in New Orleans, LA.
"There's an energy that comes with hosting an event in New Orleans," says Jamie Dempsey, IAPEP's executive director. "Vendors and speakers are excited to be joining us, whether they are regulars or first-timers. So far their enthusiasm is surpassed only by the photographers who plan to attend."
SEPCON consists of three days of education geared specifically toward sports and event photographers. Some programs will be more basic, while others will suit advanced photographers and business owners. Course topics include digital techniques, growing profits, posing, workflow for your business, action shots and more.
Speakers at the event include Stacey Porter, John Woodward, Chris Wunder and other prominent names from the sports and event photography market. Also, although SEPCON does not directly address wedding photography, the illustrious wedding photographer Hanson Fong will be on hand to share some of his best posing tips that transfer easily to different markets.
Included in the cost of registration are also a Tailgate Party, scheduled for the night of January 4, and an IAPEP Informational Town Hall Meeting and Reception the following evening. "These networking events are always among attendees' favorites," reveals Jim Roshan, president of IAPEP. "I still have members thanking me for the opportunities and relationships that developed at the very first conference this organization hosted."
Attendees who pre-register by December 6, 2004 will save $50 per person. On-site registration is $219 for IAPEP members, $319 for non-members. Companions may attend at a discounted rate. Pre-conference programs are available for an additional fee.
SEPCON is a don't-miss conference for anyone interested in learning what's new in the sports and event photography market, or how to break into this lucrative field. For more detailed program, pricing and registration information, go to www.iapep.com or call 877-427-3778.
