IAPEP Announces Name Change
Progression is the name of the game in 2006 for IAPEP (International Association of Professional Event Photographers), as the organization today announced that they’re changing the name of their organization to the Society of Sport and Event Photographers (SEP).
“This change is another step forward in the progress and growth that has come to be known as SEP. Our future is bright, and our new name reflects the unity and collaborative efforts essential to our continued growth. Members will continue to see us define this organization,” said Michelle Hatch, Association Manager for IAPEP. “We will continue to make changes as we identify more ways to help members improve their business and make more money.”
Experiencing record growth in 2005, Hatch said that the organization has evolved into a full service association that offers its photographers the resources and tools imperative to their success. “Membership in a professional association gives photographers credibility and assures their customers that they’re serious about their business,” explained Hatch. “More importantly, they can use it in their marketing. Our new name, the Society of Sport and Event Photographers, leaves no doubt as to the type of photography our members provide. That makes it easier for their customers to find them, and that means more business.”
The change is also being made to reflect the marketplace. “The photography industry is becoming more segmented and as this niche grows into a more popular segment, we wanted to more clearly define who we are to the industry,” Hatch said.
IAPEP (soon to be known as SEP) is the first association of its kind in the photographic industry. Focused solely on event photography, this growing community has amassed an abundance of benefits and educational opportunities to help its members’ businesses succeed and grow.
